Legacy question

Is having a sibling who graduated recently considered a legacy? Do you think it could have a positive impact?

Yes, siblings are considered legacies.

It helps, but not that much. The applicant must still be uber-qualified, with a rigorous curriculum, high stats, good recommendations and strong school/community involvement or ECs. Being a legacy doesn’t help if all the boxes aren’t checked. The legacy acceptance rate is at least twice that of the regular admit rate, perhaps as high as three times – but the majority of legacies are denied.

Wow, I hope you’re right. How do you know?

I apologize, I don’t know what being a Senior Member means.

And, thank you for your prompt response!

He knows because he is a brown alum and parent (I believe) and has been interviewing for brown for many years.

Senior members are simply people who have posted over 1,000 times

Thank you. You’re both kind to be available to answer questions and allay some stress.
