Legacy question

I have quite a lot of relatives who attended Harvard (including both my parents), and while I realize this is not at all a significant issue in the scheme of things, I am just wondering if there is an appropriate section to list these relatives (Yale, for instance, has included an entire section devoted to alumni relatives, in their supplement).

I think it would be a little obnoxious to include this information in the “Additional Information” section, and thus I’m a little hesitant to do so.

Clearly Harvard can see that both my parents attended from the information that is submitted regarding my parents’ educational backgrounds, but this does not address the issue of my other relatives.

Does anyone know what I should do (as I said, I recognize that this is not a particularly noteworthy problem)?

Thanks!

as far as i know, legacy does count. there are two ways it can increase your chances: 1) either of your parents, sibling (unlikely!) or a really close relative donated "generously" to harvard (higher chances of admission here) 2) your parents (not your relatives) went to harvard. so if it is obvious from your app that your parents went there, then you should be fine. i've read many sources that say the closer the people who went/donated to harvard are to you, the more your chances. of course (as with anything there are execptions to this). but generally, when it comes to money, well, harvard needs to keep its endowment growing...... (not that it isnt big enough already - $34.5bn)

If any of your Harvard Alumni relative contributed towards Harvard in any way then you should mention such a relative in the "Additional Information" section.
