My wife and I are NU med school alums, and I have two questions:
1 - Would our kids get some sort of legacy benefit for undergrad (given that we attended med school, not undergrad, at NU)?
2 - Would donating help? If so, should we donate to the undergrad or to the med school?

My husband and I went to undergrad at NU and I know someone who reads apps there. I haven’t talked to him recently about this, but sometime last year he told me how they look at most donations. Under some very big number (not sure how much), the AO will just check a box to tell whether the parent donated or not and which years. My friends said you could donate $50 a year and get the same checked box as someone who donates a lot more. No idea how much it matters though.
Of course, there’s probably a separate pile for the giant donations crowd.
Also, we’ve had many friends whose kids have been rejected with very good stats. Seems legacy works best applying ED. Or at the very least, the student needs to show a LOT of interest - visiting, etc.
