Does legacy help a lot at USC? Are there numbers to support this?

i mean to be accepted

I think so, but it depends on how close the relation is... Sorry, I don't really know the specifics.

my friend was legacy with 1700 SATs but 4.5ish GPA and varsity soccer captain and she didn't get in..

i'm sure that they take it into some consideration, but legacy status probably won't make up for any HUGE faults.. unless you're related to someone really famous or rich or something :P

4.5 gpa and 1700 sat = not that smart...sorry to tell you, but that means that the school was really easy. im not a good standardized test taker, but if you have a 4.5 you should not be getting a 1700.

my dad went there, and my sister does now..

Legacy helps, but certainly isn't everything. It won't make up for any huge problems like very low GPA/SAT's etc. It can help in interviews though, I guess, my interviewers for both the normal interview + Explore interview loved the fact that my M was a Trojan and we bonded over that.

what about a kid whos dad went to USC and has a 1600SAT and like 25ACT? theres this kid at my school who wants to go to 'SC and i really dont want him to get in & spend four more years with this jerk hahaha

Truthfully, it depends on the alum. If they are pretty rich and contributing a lot of money to USC, then your chances go up of being helped by it.
