Legacy UChicago Chances?

Hi! I'm going to be a senior this fall, and I am very intrigued as to what colleges I could hope to get into.

I'm extremely interested in majoring in computer science or UChicago's Math with a specialization in economics, as I think working in finance with a math background would be useful.

Stanford offers some of their CS lectures on-line (Check 'em out! They're awesome: Stanford School of Engineering - Stanford Engineering Everywhere ) and I started working on them before I was able to take AP CS at school. I plan on continuing to learn more about programming this summer and next year, and writing a program with my friend who finished AP CS.

I have a 3.68 GPA (uw) and a 4.39 weighted (my school only reports weighted on transcript). I'm going to be taking these AP classes next year: calc ab, macro and physics c.

I have already taken AP Psych and AP English lang and comp.

I have taken the ACT twice, the first time I got a 33 with a breakdown as follows:
-Reading and Science -- 35
-Math -- 33
-English -- 28
-Writing -- 8

I have not yet received my scores for the second test, but probably will in a couple of weeks.

EC's: I am involved in MMA fighting (it's pretty awesome), founder and president of an improv comedy club that meets in local bars, I ran the chicago marathon for charity (even though running stinks), I'm very involved in my church and am part of the student leadership team (so obviously I've done the mission trip thing) and that's it! (plus those Stanford lectures, I don't know if those count....)

Anything else: I live in Illinois, just half an hour west of Hyde Park. My mom went there and graduated in three years, and according to Parchment.com | Leader in eTranscript Exchange my chances go from 31% to 76% by including that I'm a legacy.

So my main question is, will I get into UChicago?

Thanks for all the help, if any other info is needed or wanted, I'd love to share.

Eh. Your GPA should be higher, and your ACT is okay. Take your ACT again and do better on the english for composite of 34+. Apply early to maximized your chances.

Shoot! I knew I forgot something in the above post, I was planning on applying through their early action program and letting them know that they were my first choice. According to my math teacher, who attended there, it matters quite a lot to them, as they don’t want people to choose other schools if they get in at UChicago.

That GPA is a little worrying. I agree with friedman, your English composite should be at least a 32-33. Maybe go for a little bit more course rigor. Otherwise, you have a pretty worthy application. The dedication to compSci is very noteworthy.

On another note, online chance websites are very black and white as they are based on a system. There doesn’t seem to be much of an emphasis on ec’s (even when there is, the questions are very general), awards, teacher recs., essays, the list goes on and on. Keep that in mind when using Parchment.

Would it change anything that I have straight A’s junior year? In two honors and two AP classes?

I just got the ACT results from our school testing day and got another 33 with a breakdown as follows:
-English: 27
-Math: 36
-Reading: 32
-Science: 35

This is a superscored 34 (I don’t know if UChicago superscores).

Does this new score help/hurt my chances at all?
