Legacy vs. athletes/ question about the arts

I’ve found some mixed answers about this topic and would love some thought.

During the ED round, do you think legacy applicants are considered as heavily as athletes?

Also, do you think if one was really good in the arts it can help their candidacy greatly?

Pretty much a moot point. At most schools, recruited athletes have to apply EA/ED. Some schools will only give legacy consideration to applicants who apply EA/ED. In any case, the individual college is free to set its own parameters for what bump, if any, is given for a particular group. So the answer varies by college.

Are you asking for bowdoin only, or at d3 schools? Or a specific group of schools?

yeah, I was more just asking about Bowdoin

My S graduated in May from Bowdoin. He had applied ED - was not a legacy or an athlete, but he did submit an arts supplement. At graduation he was joking with the choral director that he needed to work with Admissions to recruit/admit more tenors (a big group were graduating). I have no idea if it works that way though!
