Legacy?

How likely is it that I get in RD as a legacy to Wesleyan? Sat 2110 ( projected 2200+ by application time), so far for subject tests ush:740 and math 1: 730, top 2% in class, all advanced classes offered, 2 recycling programs, 10 varsity letters, summer@brown program, average volunteering and other EC's.

Wesleyan does not publish data on percentage of RD vs. ED legacy admits, as far as I know. However, if you read the book “The Gatekeepers”, written by the NY Times Education Editor and focused on the Wes admissions process back in 2002, it was clearly stated that ED was the place where most of the legacy admits occurred. The justification for legacy admissions often has to do with a college wanting to have a portion of its student body who have roots in the school already. My guess is that legacy has only a minimal benefit to an RD applicant at a place like Wesleyan. Otherwise, I think your grades and background look competitive, but when you get to RD, sometimes the deciding factor is “what makes you special”. It’s hard for me to say much more than that. Good luck!

Thank you, because I would like to be admitted to Wesleyan but I have no desire to apply ED

Who wouldn’t want to be admitted to Wesleyan? If it’s through RD, it’s just another school you get to choose to go to. So, no desire to apply ED to Wes? Or ED at all?
