Legacy

Does anyone know how much benefit being a sibling legacy provides in the Wash U admissions process? I get the feeling that being a legacy is less important at Wash U than it is at the Ivys and some other schools, but that really isn't based on anything other than intuition.

Parent legacy has some pull, I got a letter noting my “special relationship” with the university. I don’t think sibling legacy has quite the same effect, but its more likely to help than hurt.

I can’t say with certainty that it gives you any sort of benefit in admissions, but I can tell you that there is a very large number of siblings that come to WashU. If nothing else, it shows real interest because the admissions office knows that you are very familiar with the school and still want to come here. I hope being a sibling is a huge boost though, because my little sister is applying this year!
