I had double legacy and a sibling… 1380 SAT, tenth in my class, blah blah good stats great student etc
I guess I didn’t suck enough admissions *… I tried to make my app original and honest, and it kinda backfired I think… didn’t play myself up enough, and my EC’s *ed me over.
Plus I have no chance, because my midyear report, ****ing sucks!

I was bitter, but I’m happy for everyone who got in- you all deserve it- guess it was harder than I anticipated!!!

watch out you future legacies! work harder than i did! I never went to my full potential and it bit me in the ass!

bigjake or bigdouche im not sure-
my point was, is that legacy is no guarantee if you don't have remarkable stats. if you do, it's a different story. but its not by any means going to get someone in to Upenn if they aren't up to par in the first place

I was an accepted Legacy. My sister two years ago got denied.

I had an ACA interview and also one of those off campus alumni interviews. I got called for the off campus alumni interview and figured it wouldn't hurt to do it, and it might reflect badly if I turned it down.

double legacy, 1410 sat (i think my 630 verbal might have killed me), ACA interview and alumni- both went amazingly well and trust me if they sucked i would say so, FLAT OUT REJECTED be happy you got deferred, you still have a chance... more than anything im frustrated with my regional rep, i wasnt even planning on applying to penn and she completely talked me into it, made me fall in love with the school which lead to early decision -- only to REJECT me... sorry im just really bitter so im trying to blame anyone i can

rejected double legacy...i didnt do the alumni interview..just aca..1360..decent ECs and such..whatever i got 13 other apps almost ready to go..DONT WORRY ABOUT THE DEFERRAL OR REJECTION---YOU WILL ALL GO SOMEPLACE REALLY GOOD!

smh...there were two penn legacy ED applicants that i knew (bro + sis). both were dumb as doors (SAT < 1200, never made honor roll, never took an honors course, etc), but since mommy & daddy gave 'ishloads of cash, they're both in.

So far I'm running a 3.7 GPA...took the PSAT as a soph and I'm in the 92nd percentile...I'm HIspanic (but not Puerto Rican or Mexican) and volunteer regularly at a Hispanic agency in my community. My dad went to Penn (he is white...mom is Hispanic...therefore, I am HIspanic). Do you think I have a shot as an URM legacy for ED?

Three students applied to Penn from my son's small private school this year. One was a recruited athlete, one a high-achieving scholar/athlete and one a legacy. The first two were accepted and the legacy rejected. I don't know any of their stats, but I would guess that the legacy's were closer to the athlete's than to the brainiac.

Or, maybe they just decide they will only take so many from one school? I read conflicting information about that phenomenon, so not sure.

I had thought, given the high % of Penn legacies traditionally taken, that the legacy would be chosen over the student/athlete or the recruited athlete. I was wrong. Just data for you all to add to your files.
