If my great grandfather was a student at U Chicago, am I considered a legacy, or does a legacy student only mean his or her mother or father went to that university?
Thank you

The college’s supplement to the Common App will usually define it for you. They will ask a specific question, which will make it obvious how they define it (ex: has a parent or a sibling attended the school). My son was a double legacy at UChicago because both of his parents attended there, so I don’t recall how they specifically defined it because I knew he qualified, but I know that most schools define it rather narrowly.
Great grandfather doesn’t count. It’s usually only parents/grandparents/siblings that count.
