legacy

how much weight do you think being a legacy has at penn? i have a 35 ACT, i'm an IB diploma candidate, and i have a 3.82 gpa steadily going up from freshman year with mid year senior grades having a 4.3 weighted, 3.9 unweighted (7 ib classes) do you think being a legacy will help me out? i did one of those legacy interviews and it lasted an hour and a half, the interviewer and i really hit it off. comments?

penn is famous for their emphasis of legacy during the ED round. Legacy will definitely help with upenn. From looking at your stats solely (not ecs), id say you have about the best chance anybody does. The only thing keeping me from saying "in" is the fact that it's a crapshoot, as you know.

With an ACT score of 35, you don't have much to worry about. Legacy status may be further evidence that Penn is truly your first choice school, if that is, in fact, true. Penn is so much in demand that the admissions folks can select students with or without regard to legacy status. In short, I don't know, but, if you apply ED/EA, you are likely to be admitted.

yeahh i didnt apply early though haha i kinda regret it too. the interviewer said my extracurriculars were what they were looking for (dedication to one thing) because i swim on 3 teams, volunteer coach swimming, was a lifeguard manager, etc. thanks for your input
