Legacy

Does anyone know if legacy status actually assists and out of state applicant?

See:

[UNC : APPLYING TO UNC : HOW TO APPLY](http://www.admissions.unc.edu/faq/applying.htm#alumnus)

OOS Admit = 20%

 • Non-Alumni 19%
 • Legacy 39%

Out of ~11,000 OOS apps, 500 were Legacy
Out of ~2,200 OOS admits, 200 were Legacy

It helps.

Legacy’s are treated as instate for admissions (not tuition) purposes.

The article from the Alumni magazine provided the granularity I referenced.
