Legacy

how important are legacies when it comes to applicants? i have two uncles who went to stanford (from different sides of my family, funny enough) and my dad went to bard, both of which i'm looking at.

Uncles generally don’t count for legacy; it’s often only parents, sometimes grandparents, but not uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.

Many schools consider legacy as a factor (and it usually has to be parents or possibly grandparents) and many do not. The importance of the factor is often directly proportional to the amount of money the parent has contributed to the school.
