If my mother went to Columbia Fu Foundation for her graduate studies, and I'm applying to Columbia College for undergrad, will it help me at all? Does it matter that she hasn't really kept in touch with Columbia?

i think they only count legacy as a parent who went to columbia undergrad

No it probably won't help. First, I was told they only consider legacy in the early decision pool. Second, I applied early decision when both my parents were undergrads there (my mom at barnard when they were single sex schools) and I got rejected. go figure, I thought I was pretty qualified.

You're not a legacy by definition. And if she's not a big donor / influential, you'll get no benefit.

Well, I mom went to Columbia but I was deferred, so I guess legacy doesn't count that much.
