I am out of state but my mother went to UVA for both undergrad and grad, and had an amazing experience. Anyway, I suppose this makes me a "legacy". I was wondering what kind of advantages, if any, are associated with this.

In my application, when filling out where my parents went to college, I obviously stated that my mother attended UVA and the years she attended. Will this help my chances in any way? And was there anything else I needed to do to ensure legacy status?

Thanks!

You’ve done all you need to do to ensure legacy status. If you have not done so already, contact Cindy Garver at the Alumni Association. She runs the legacy liason program and will be able to answer any questions you have. You can get her contact info from the UVa website.

I forgot to add that legacy status does give you an advantage…the acceptance rate is higher for legacies.

I saw your post about receiving a likely letter…if I were you I would be ordering a UVA sweatshirt!

haha thanks! ahh i’m so happy:)
