Legal assistant program?

I know Mintz Levin has a program for recent graduates (of undergrad), which is a 2 year legal assistant sort of thing. I was wondering if any other firms have similar programs for students considering law school but wanting to try the field out before making the commitment.

Wachtel used to have one; I don’t know if it still does. Lots of firms have less formal ones.

Just wanted to provide the Mintz link for the Project Analyst program:

[Careers / ML / Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.](http://www.mintz.com/careers/5/Project_Analysts)

Do you guys know if the program above pays? if so how much.

It does. Not sure exactly how much – I’d wager somewhere in the starting salary range for a typical elite college grad, so perhaps somewhere like $40,000.

Oh, I see! Thanks!

Again, I may be out of date, but the Department of Justice had a great two year program. Several of my kid’s friends did it --one decided to go to med school instead of law school as a result of the experience  !

Department of Justice still offers the program. I couldn’t find the link to the current hiring process, but here’s the link for last year’s interns: http://www.justice.gov/criminal/employment/repos/Paralegal-Program-CRM.pdf</a>. The application process is quite competitive (and drawn out). However, its a wonderful opportunity if you’re considering law school.
