Legal Studies

How is the CAL Legal Studies Program compared to other similar top programs? and how useful is this major for undergrad compared to other liberal arts majors?

it's fairly strong as far as i know, althoughi don't know how legal studies departments compare. I do know that the courses are taught entirely by Boalt law school professors, and that there are some small seminars in the upper division. the class descriptions seem interesting as well.

as to usefulness compared to other 'liberal arts' majors (you might want to look at some definitions such as http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/liberal%20arts), i'm not exactly sure. i imagine you'd have similar analytic skills as philosophy, history or English, as well as some research skills. you would write a fair amount of papers as a legal studies major.

as for usefulness in law school admissions, American law schools tend to prefer other majors than law or legal studies, but many legal studies majors go on to get a JD or other legal degree. take a look at this- hopefully it will give you a better idea.
