does someone know the schools in teh caribbean that are considered "legit"- that is where a large percentage get licensed and accepted into US residency programs? because i have been told by many that alot of caribbean med schools are very poor.

What makes you think there are any?

i had read a book about med school admissions, it mentioned one where 99% of students get into us residencies, st george med school or somthing

That's certainly what SGU claims. It is not a US organization, however, and almost certainly is not eligible for any lawsuits claiming false advertising.

They point out that 76% of their graduates go into primary care. They claim that this is representative of US trends as a whole, which would very much surprise me.

76% would have been much more representative about 8-12 years ago when there was the huge push for students to go primary care. We're definitely seeing the cycle heading towards the opposite end of the spectrum (for a number of different reasons), particularly at private medical schools I'm sure.

if you can avoid it, i'm sure its a better idea not to attend a carribean med school, however, if you have no other choice, I hear that Ross is probably the best amongst all of them.

is this Ross or SGU (which also apparently has clinical rotations in the us) better or worse than osteopathic medical school?

Worse. You will be counted as a FMG if you go to the Carib. I don't understand why people chose the more difficult route just so they can have the letters MD after their name instead of DO.

St. Kitts has a pretty good medical school.

Closing old thread.
