Really? That’s cool! I’ll still probably freak out when I see that email though I hate this waiting…

My friends are nervous wrecks because some of them hear back from the ivies Wednesday and I’m even more of a wreck because we Lehigh ED-ers dont have a set date We have mid-december to analyze

… Right? At least Wednesday isn’t a period of 10 days like mid-December is! Three of my friends hear back on Wednesday, too. They do not understand the anxiety caused by having o check the Lehigh portal 5 times a day from the 10th to the 20th!

I emailed one of the admissions officers and she told me that they are AIMING to get decisions out by December 17. So if they’re not yet done with reviewing and finalizing everything then it could be pushed back further.

Nooooooooooooo! So definitely not this week I know they had to deal with the aftermath of Sandy, but I was still hopeful. Anyway, thanks for the info. At least I can stop checking the portal until at least Sunday.

Hey there guys,

Yeah I applied ED and I’m so excited, but scared at the same time. I absolutely love Lehigh too. Hopefully I’ll be writing back here in a week saying I got accepted;)

And Lehigh2017 I live in Hunterdon too hahaha it seems like a lot of kids in our area love Lehigh. When I went to the open house last year, two of the tour guides were from my high school.

Oh and I talked to Catherine Souza a few weeks ago(before Nov. 15) and she said that they were trying to get in all the applications during the previous regular deadline because they didn’t want to extend the reply dates.

Hey! That’s so cool we’re from the same county! I’m assuming you don’t go to my school (as I think I know everyone whose applying ED from here, but it’s still cool! And yes, a lot of Lehigh appreciation in this area! The two other good schools that are close are Princeton and UPenn, both nearly impossible to get into. So I guess if your any bit intelligent from this area you look at least a little at Lehigh

Maybe the adcoms weren’t able to get all the applications in on time, then? I applied in September, so I was ready haha

What major are you applying as?

Yeah I don’t think we go to the same school but I’m applying for BioE but I think that I might switch into neuroscience if I get accepted.

And exactly, oh and there’s Lafayette but knowing how much we love Lehigh, well that’s out of the question:P

And I was actually wondering, you might not know the answer but when do we find out if we got a scholarship? Is that later like in February?

BioE! Me too! I for some reason was guessing you’d say that! And psych or neuroscience are my backups if BioE starts to hurt my GPA too much. The Lehigh - Lafayette rivalry is all in good fun, but I could still never humor the idea of going to Lafayette!

As far as scholarships go, they will definitely come with the acceptance letter. I’m not sure about the online portal, but scholarship and financial ad estimates will be with the acceptance letter that we get next week.

Neuroscience just REALLY fascinates me. And BioE is exciting but just not like psych/neuroscience.

Ooh okay I gotcha, good I know they only give scholarships to their top 5% but it’d be awesome to get one(:

I can’t respond to your message because I don’t have 15 posts yet(so lame) but it’s the school where you have one cousin. Got it?

Yeah yeah, he’s in your grade then! That’s cool, I wonder if you know him! Anyway, the scholarships are really hard to get but I keep imagining getting one! It would be beyond awesome to have a half or full tuition (or any amount for that matter) so that I can graduate med school with ONLY $250,000 in debt and not that plus the cost of Lehigh :P

Hahaha I think we’re basically the same person, I want to pursue med school too(:

And honestly I’d love Lehigh either way, but it would just be so much more helpful.

It’s so cool that there are people like you who are so passionate about Lehigh. This is what I really love about this school, the students LOVE being there. They tried ridiculously hard to get in and appreciate being there(: Plus there is so much school spirit which I love.

Oh and if you want, send me his name in a pm. I bet you I know him, is he applying to Lehigh?

Lehigh was closed down for a full week after Sandy and everyone was sent home. Without electricity the Admissions Department obviously lost a full week of decision making which would explain this possible delay. It has been known for years that Lehigh is not “need blind” and tries to accept as many full ride students in ED1 as possible and defer the others to the next round in order to make sure enough financial aid packages are later available. It may not seem right but your odds of getting accepted in the first round definately increase with the less financial assistance you request.

WaitingDad-

I said I didn’t require financial aid for those reasons. But Lehigh strongly stresses that it is “need blind”, don’t you think that they just wouldn’t say anything?

Lehigh2017-

Wrong school, you’re close it’s the second word. But think more regionally. This is like a game:P

Lehighlove,

He and I visited Lehigh together, and he really like it, but I don’t think he applied. After the tour I couldn’t imagine applying anywhere else!

Waitingdad,

During the whole time my power was out all I could think about was whether or not they’d postpone the decision day! I fully understand why they’d need the extra time, I was just HOPING they wouldn’t

But anyway, Lehigh claims to be need-blind in the ED and RD rounds with domestic applicants but need-aware (is that a thing?) for the waitlisted and international students. Then again, when 50% of all students pay full boat, it’s hard to imagine that the process is anything but need-aware (still not sure of this phrase).

When you say “request” financial aid, what exactly do you mean? I’ve heard that terminology before but I never specified an amount I wanted, I just filled out my financial information (and my parent’s).

Lehigh2017-

It asks on the commonapp if you’ll be applying for financial aid. And maybe on the supplement too, not sure?

But by sending in the necessary material I think that suggests you’re seeking aid.

P.s. I proclaim need-aware a word. And Lehigh had a great financial aid package for most need-based students.

You’re assumptions are correct Lehigh2017, and my sister graduated 5 years ago, small world.

I just want to get accepted into Lehigh and live happily ever after. Is that too much to ask?

Oh okay well I did apply for financial aid because on Lehigh’s website it says they urge everyone to apply. Whenever I do financial aid estimators, though, it always come up saying I won’t get anything :’(

Need-aware is now a word! Thank you!
