that open house could easily be for juniors who are considering applying. It’s for anyone. And, two, look at above comments. Last year, the checklists disappeared on the 11th and decisions out on 24th.
that is much more logical than what i was thinking! thank you
My son is a senior at Lehigh. He is a computer science business major. He ED’d and has loved his time there. I will say that all of the comments about school spirit, a busy beautiful campus, and top notch academics have been true for him. He started in CS and switched to CSB (interdisciplinary computer science and business) sophomore year which made his academics very challenging because CSB has a very tight curriculum and he had to make up the classes he missed freshman year over the summer. The program is great! He wasn’t a big study abroad kid (we’ve traveled in Europe but he never wanted a semester there) but CSB does a summer session in Prague where you take a class for credit and have an internship (his was with PWC) and have time to do some traveling as well.
Full disclosure he is not in a fraternity. That’s really not his thing. He went to his share of parties early on but in his junior and senior year I’d say they moved into more of the off-campus party scene. He is more of a gamer and a DND kind of kid. So I can’t speak to the Greek life part of the campus experience. The work load there is pretty serious. A couple of his friends are in the IDEAs program … an interdisciplinary combo of engineering and liberal arts. I believe Lehigh also has a fifth year free masters if you have a 3.5 when you graduate. I don’t know much about the humanities side of Lehigh’s curriculum.
The area immediately surrounding Lehigh is quite nice. We go up and have lunch with him quite often. I recommend the Gooseman deli if you go and visit. It’s one of his favorites. He’s never really had much of a reason to venture into Bethlehem as the campus has plenty to do. And he does have a car so if he needs to go to the mall or to target it’s pretty easy for him. I don’t know if they have a shuttle but I would guess they probably do for the kids that don’t have cars.
As far as housing, Lehigh is doing a huge amount of construction of new dorms. My son has had a single all for years. It’s pretty easy to get one even as a freshman. He really was interested in a single and the trade-off was he did one of the Lehigh’s pre-orientation trips: his was an outdoor adventure one with white water rafting in and hiking and I think paintball and he met two of his closest friends during that trip. So he never really felt the need for a roommate. He had another single sophomore year and then he moved into a four bedroom two bathroom apartment in the building that’s privately owned but still located on the campus for his last two years.
Hope this is somewhat helpful. If you have any other questions please feel free to PM me.
Wow thank you!! Lots of good info!!
Free graduate school entrance, or free cost? Thanks.
I looked at google earth map, and it looks 1/5~1/4 of campus are for fraternity, located in the south campus beautiful woods. And we strongly suggest our D to focus on study not fraternity.
I think that grad school offer has been discontinued
That’s too bad. A friend’s son did it and it worked out great for him.
I bet! What a great option! I looked it up immediately after you mentioned it. Would have been a big perk for sure.
The Greek system is a bit in flux…a good friend’s S19 is in a fraternity but really hasn’t had much time to experience anything because of Covid. I’m not a fan either so I was happy my S wasn’t interested.
Thank you for your insight! Can I ask you specifically about your son’s non-involvement in frats? My D loves the school but she isn’t interested in Greek life. Please respond here, but if you’d like to DM me that would be fine as well!
If she’s not interested in Greek life she can definitely have a nice social life. My S has a close group of 8 kids…4 boys, 4 girls and 1 of each is in Greek life. They do a lot of things as a group and the 2 Greek members weave in their Greek life.
I definitely recommend the pre orientation trips. If it’s still the same there are about 10 or so with a range of focuses. It gives kids the chance to meet others with similar interests and if you choose a single it’s a way to make friends before you start orientation. Also a hedge against possible roommate mismatches.

S joined a bunch of clubs which plan their own events. He was also on the ultimate frisbee team which had their events.
I look at the Greek life percentages in the reverse. If 40% of the girls join sororities that means 60% don’t which leaves many kids outside the system to do things non-Greek related.
Oh as far as cons: it IS built into the side of a mountain (there’s some stat about the number of steps on campus) so no worries about the freshman 15 but the kids don’t seem to mind and it keeps them in great shape.
so when are we expecting decisions now. Friday? Next week?
last year it ws the 24th, so im thinking next tuesday or wednesday maybe
Excited !!! !!!
Big stuff going down in the next week
Ughhh! The waiting is the worst!
I talked to one of the professors from Lehigh and he said admissions is trying to get out acceptances out by March 25th
Yes, and on the Lehigh Instagram Story, they wrote that they are preparing to send out decisions this week!
Really? I don’t see it on their story. Right now?
