Lehigh Early Decision Agreement

I was recently accepted early decision to Lehigh University. I paid my deposit on time but I accidentally sent in the early decision contract a few days late. Do you think they will rescind my acceptance as result? If you have answers or have had a similar experience please feel free to comment.

They accepted you b/c they want you (and your tuition). They aren’t setting up traps and stumbling blocks before you to now quickly rid themselves of your future with them. If you were Lehigh, is that how you would treat incoming students and families?

So you don’t think it will affect me too badly?

The answer is no.

While I do not think so, there is no harm in contacting them. When D was applying she had a little trouble with one of the southern’s school’s web site when she was trying to decline RD admission. She ended up not being able to respond on the web site so she sent an email to her rep and the admissions office (it is a school her cousin is applying to this year, same last name, same town and she did not want to harm the relationship), thanking but declining. She got an email back from the admissions office a few days later saying not to worry, when they do not hear from you they automatically assume you are not coming. However, that is RD where the odds of her attending are 1 in 10 or something. When you do early decision, you are agreeing to attend unless finances are an issue so I would not worry.

Plus you paid them which is what they really go by.

When you did send in your acceptance did you get some type of automated response letter saying

Dear, we are so happy you will be a freshman…

Did you have access to the admitted website, asked to do housing or whatever else they need you to complete before you attend.

Although every school is different some may wait to do that.

If you do not get paperwork this week or emails confirming your admission I would touch base with them later this week maybe asking a question rather than mentioning you were late. I think you are fine. As others have said, they want you, they already have your money and that shows the clearest intent.

I got an email saying welcome to the class of 2020 after I paid my deposit and the Lehigh portal shows me all of the dates for admitted student receptions so I think I will be okay. I was just initially nervous about not delivering the form in on time.

I think you’re fine if you sent in a deposit, but I would still call and make sure it’s all ok.

If they cashed your deposit check, you are fine. Congratulations on your ED acceptance (and this is coming from a mom of a child at Lafayette LOL).

They almost certainly will view your deposit as indicating your acceptance. Shouldn’t be a problem.
