Lehigh IBE Chances/Dean's Scholarship

Hi, I am a high school senior who is applying early decision to Lehigh. Luckily, I already know that I will be admitted because I signed a letter of intent to play for the Lehigh Athletics program.

However, I have been told that I won’t have an advantage over anyone else to get into the IBE program, like I did for the school admissions.

I have an SAT score of 2160, with 750 in math, a 720 reading score, and a 690 writing. My high school GPA through junior year is a 3.75, with a class rank of 26/300 students in a top public school in my area. I have taken 3 APs, and am taking 3 more this year. My extracurriculars are pretty decent, but nothing too special (a lot of my free time was spent on athletics). Every year, it seems college admissions become more competitive. Could someone please give me some insight on my chances of admission into the IBE program?

I am also planning on taking the new SAT in January, in hopes of increasing my odds of getting into the IBE program. I also hope to get a Dean’s Scholarship. Would it be too late if I receive my test scores in February? My college coach would be able to help communicate more directly with admissions than I would be able to normally, which might help me a little.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the time

Lehigh2021: I think you are right on the bubble to get into the IBE program. The positives are your scores, the quality of your public school, I am assuming, as well as the rigor of your curriculum (I can only assume). GPA is fine, with those assumptions made. That said, I know 2 years ago there were 1200 apps for 50 spots in IBE, and it does not help to be male (80% of engineering apps are still male); however, the ED app would also act in your favor. 750 math is the 25th % for all Lehigh freshmen. Too close to call, but certainly you have a reason to be hopeful.
