So I got accepted to quite a few schools, but I’ve narrowed down my decision to Lehigh’s Integrated Business and Engineering Program and UCLA. I have always seen myself pursuing a double major in finance or economics and engineering, and Lehigh obviously allows for that- given that I stay for a 5th year and complete the engineering degree requirements. I also contacted UCLA (I was admitted to the engineering school), and they said that I could also pursue a second major in business economics, but I would have to apply and get in. It would also probably take 5 years.
I am aware that UCLA is the more competitive and bigger school (the freshmen engineering class was about 3500 in 2016); however, it also more well-known and has a larger alumni network. In contrast, Lehigh’s IBE program is an honors program (I would have first pick for classes) that enrolls about 50 students each year; however, it is not a well-known or ranked as high for engineering or economics.
I guess my question is, am I better off in a smaller, less competitive program or at a larger and more well-known university?
Thanks
