Hi! I applied to Lehigh’s IBE program and am waiting to hear back (hopefully by early February). I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the stats of people who have gotten into the program. I know that it’s Lehigh’s honors program so I assume the stats are higher than for the rest of Lehigh but I’m hoping to get some specific numbers. Thanks!
My S is a freshman in IBE. He’s stats were 35 ACT, 3.95 UW GPA, 4.5 W, 7 AP’s all 5’s, good EC’s, leadership, etc. He applied RD. Good luck!
Thanks so much! Do you know what other schools he got into by any chance?
He applied for EE major at the following schools and was accepted - UIUC, U of MI Ann Arbor, UT Austin, Northeastern, USC, Case, U of MN Twin Cities, Purdue, Miami of OH, Iowa State. Rejected from MIT and Mudd - these were his super reaches and the schools made the right decision. He just wanted to see if it’s possible. He got deferred in the early round at MIT and rejected in RD. Waitlisted at Rice - again the right decision, bc he wasn’t that interested into the school. The private schools gave him half tuition to full tuition merit and a couple of publics gave him enough merit to make it comparable to our flagship. He chose Lehigh ultimately bc he really like the IBE program and was impressed with the student body. Also, the Founder’s Scholarship was too good to pass up. He had a fantastic first semester.
I forgot that my S accepted to Northwestern too.
Wow that’s really impressive! This was really helpful thanks!
@cag60093 That is really impressive! Do you mind listing which 7 AP’s he took? Whatever he took they liked and he did well in.
@2022soon His APs’. included Micro and Macro Econ, Comp Sci, USH, Pysch, Calc BC, Physics C. As you know, Micro and Macro are 2 separate exams, as well as Calc BC and Physics C.
Thanks; not to down play my son’s hard work, but he’s one of thousands of HS students who worked hard all four years. One of the best qualities about him is his maturity and even keel attitude. He went to in the college app process without having a specific dream school and waited until all the acceptances arrived to decide. At the end, he chose Lehigh bc of IBE, geographic distance from home (wanted to be far away!), and the generous scholarship. He is flourishing there; we are very pleased and grateful for the generosity from Lehigh and from his maturity to think about cost.
Daughter applied RD to IBE, same typ stats and roughly same AP’s as #cag60093. Also received Founders schollie, which made it a no-brainer. Admitted to Dartmouth, Mudd, USC (with half tuition), and several others. IBE is awesome and she has thrived in every way at Lehigh.
@LehighHawkDad Congrats to your daughter. What year is your daughter in?
2019
Son is Freshman IBE Loves it. Very intense program. They accepted 17 of his HS credits and got $12,500. Have to keep at least 3.2 avg. He loves it cant get him to come home. Highly recommend it.
He got $12,500? Is that off the approximate $65,000 tuition?
