I am interested in Lehigh's Joint Degree Program in Optometry and was wondering if anyone has any input on the program. Thoughts? Chances of getting in? Thanks!!!!

^^^ You do realize that optometry is different from being an M.D/D.O right? Optometrists don’t have to go to medical school. In another thread you mentioned you wanted to go to medical schools…

Yes I understand…It’s just another field I am some what interested in

I have researched combined degree programs in optometry in conjuction with SUNY College of Optometry, and am interested in either Lehigh or TCNJ. Any thoughts on these programs? Chances?

I think, by this point, it’s pretty safe to say that no one who posts here regularly knows anything worthwhile about the specific optometry programs you mentioned. Note that this board typically focuses on pre-med (allopathic and occasionally osteopathic) students and the process of applying to medical school after (or while) getting a bachelor’s. As one of those students, I personally have very limited knowledge about optometry programs (I know there’s not that many programs, and the test is called OAT–that’s about it). You’ll probably have better luck on an optometry or health professions forum. Good luck!

Thanks, and now that you mentioned it, I have researched some osteopathic combined programs. Do you have any knowlegde of them and how I relate? thanks!

Do combined programs lock you into a specific profession and are you ready to decide which you want? With a GPA like that and outside involvement you have an excellent shot at any health profession.
