Lehigh or Rochester?

I'm trying to decide between Lehigh University and University of Rochester. I'm majoring in Engineering, most likely Chemical, Materials, or possibly Mechanical, depending on the school and what I end up liking. I want a balanced education, and I realize that I won't have time for a huge number of non-engineering courses, but it's important to me that my school has a philosophy that encourages learning for the sake of learning and being well rounded.

So far, here are the pros of the schools that I've thought of:
Rochester: Take five program or 3-2 bachelor's/master's combo (they offer a MS in Alternative Energy, which is what I want my career to revolve around). Also, good academic philosophy and curriculum (or lack of).
Lehigh: It seems to be a bit higher ranked? I can't quite tell.

Basically, I think they seem very similar, and I'm wondering which you would suggest, and why? the cost would be very similar.
Thanks!

Bump. Please? Anyone?

Is there a significant cost difference?

Both are great for engineering, look into specific internship opportunities and research opportunities at Rochester, I can only speak for Lehigh’s.

Have you visited both schools?

Very similar in all aspects other than Rochester is farther from NY City and has a much less active Greek life. Also, and importantly, Rochester has more women than Lehigh. Minority men at Rochester, minority women at Lehigh. Rochester seems more popular for liberal arts majors, business and STEM at Lehigh.

If were up to me, I’d choose the school that gave me a better aid package. Rochester actually has a slight edge in national rankings 33rd vs 38th.

Rochester does not have an open curriculum, contrary to popular belief.

[Clusters : College Center for Advising Services : University of Rochester](<a href=“Students : College Center for Advising Services : University of Rochester”>Students : College Center for Advising Services : University of Rochester)

the costs are close enough that I don’t want to base my decision on money.

The schools are academically comparable but if I had the choice I would go with Lehigh. They are well-known for engineering and I like the intangibles of the school better (D-1 sports, more school spirit/etc).

Go with whichever one you feel has a better fit for you. If Lehigh doesn’t have the Alternative Energy options you prefer (and since costs are roughly equal), it kind of seems like a no brainer to me. BUT, if you prefer the more active Greek life or something, either school could get you where you want to go.

And yes, I have visited both and loved them both. I’m having a difficult time… haha. they both look amazing.
