Lehigh or Suny SB for Premed

Hey I'm a bit confused about where to go next year. I got into both Lehigh and Suny SB and am on the wiatlist at Carnegie Mellon (Priority Waitlist) and Johns Hopkins. Out of the two schools that I got into, which do you think has a better premed program? Obviously if i get in to JHU off the waitlist (very unlikely) i would probably go there, but what about Carnegie Mellon? How does their program compare to the others? Also i got a full scholarship to Suny SB and it is a local school, but i think i would stay there anyway. I didn't get any money from Lehigh and probably wont get any from the waitlisted schools if i happen to get in. As of right now i've put in tuition deposits at both schools and am really having a hard time deciding between them. Any help/opinions would be great. Thanks

Stony Brook would literally be a fraction of the price and they're pretty strong in the sciences (and getting stronger). I say go with SB!

Lehigh has some pretty impressive statistics -- "in 2005 approximately 87% of those seniors applying to AAMC medical schools with a GPA of 3.48 or above were accepted to medical school as compared to 45% nationwide." Can't quote you anything about SB. That said, unless you have unlimited resources, you are looking at an astonomical debt before you ever start caring for a single patient.
There is no merit money off the wait list.
If you're local, SB's statistics should be easy enough to find out. If they are comparable, I say go for the money -- SB.

That statistic is slightly off. Nationally speaking, ALL premeds get in at a rate of 45%. Lehigh's HIGH GPA kids get in at 87%. That's not a small distinction.

being a NY resident, I hear great things about SB sciences, and, if they're giving you money, it'd be much easier on the back account =)

unless you get a carnegie or JHU acceptance, my vote is SUNYSB

it depends on ur attitude as well... how prestige etc affects decisions

with suny, youll save alot of money, strong sciences, probly get a high gpa , but some people would never be caught dead in a suny because its a state school and they would rather go to private prestigious school

but yeah, if the above doesnt describe you , go to suny and ull ultimately be glad when u get into med school

heh, I might have gone to Geneseo, but Colby actually, believe it or not, offered me a package that would make it $5,000/year cheaper to attend... weird, eah?
