Lehigh or Villanova

Looking for help in making decision between Villanova or Lehigh business schools accounting program. Received some aid from VU very little from LU. So which name holds more clout? It seems to me VU is ranked much higher so u am thinking companies might prefer VU students. Also the VU name is known for it's basketball team. Loved the school spirit at VU when i was there. Haven't quite seen that kind of school spirit anywhere Also heard ther is a very supportive alumni network. Will be attending both schools candidate days. Still wondering if anyone has a more convincing argument for either school.

They are both great schools with great reps in business. Very different schools as far as student life, so I would see which feels right for you.

I am not sure what you mean by clout - so you mean going onto a name grad school, finding a job? Remember rankings are based on many factors, not purely academics, so you may want to look a little deeper.

Thanks for your thoughts from mom of daughter. I agree two different type schools. As a mom I am leaning towards Villanova. I like the whole school spirit thing. From my research it seems like villanova and lehigh might be evenly matched regarding the business school and accounting major and job opportunities. What I meant by clout of school name was which school would carry more weight on the resume. Since my D got into both tri

Sorry, I don’t know the rep. of either school in the business community, but it is hard for me to believe there is much of a difference, but perhaps so.

My son is in engineering so I am more familiar with that rep., which is first class.

Good luck - I am sure she will be very happy with either school, great to have such choices in life!

In terms of school spirit, It is hard to find students that love their school more than Lehigh students. A review of Lehigh students during Lafayette week would open ones eyes towards their tremendous school spirit.

Villanova is well known nationally for their basketball teams

Lehigh is well known nationally for its academics.

Lehigh is nationally known for academics and Villanova is known for it’s basketball program, but upon further inspection Villanova for undergraduate is very similar to Lehigh academically.

Do the research.
Business Week rank #7 for for VSB
• Overall Academic Quality Rank: #2 in the Nation
• Student Grade for Teaching Quality: A+
• Student Grade for Job Placement: A

USNWR top 10 for undergraduate Engineering , highly regarded Nursing program , challenging sciences program, 95% freshman retention rate , 89% 6 year graduation rate.

As for school spirit , Lehigh - Lafayette game has it’s storied tradition but Villanova has NCAA championship & recent Final Four Basketball , 2009 Division 2 Football Championship , top 10 Lacrosse team ,2 consecutive NCAA championship in Women’s Cross Country.
Nova’s tradition of service including including Special Olympics , Habitat for Humanity service trips , Days of service for local charities etc.

VSB alumni network will also be competitive with Lehigh for opportunities on Wall St and IB and other finance / accounting fields. Contact the Clay Center before Candidates Day [Career Development Resources](VILLANOVA SCHOOL OF BUSINESS | Villanova University) .

Good luck , you have great choices and you will have great opportunities if you attend Lehigh or Vilanova.

Villanova’s #9 for undergraduate engineering USNWR rankings is for schools without PhD programs. This would interpret into the 35-40ish ranking for the primary ranking of schools wht PhD’s for Engineering.

aha!

but there is only ONE Zack Rey!

We actually had to make the same decision last year and it was a tough one as we have strong family ties to Villanova. We decided on Lehigh for a number of reasons. We ignored the Business Week rankings because my husband and I have both worked in the corporate world and we know the type of respect that Lehigh graduates receive. Instead we analyzed the actual business programs and we preferred Lehigh because there were far fewer outside major requirements and it allowed my daughter the opportunity to double major and get a more in-depth business education. I’ve been so impressed with the business school so far and she loves it.
