Lehigh specialty

What's most special about Lehigh? How do you determine if one is a good fit?

Have you visited?

When my son was looking for college he first visited large universities. He really felt overwhelmed in these huge “cities” that were universities. When we came to Lehigh it really felt like a resort. The campus is stunning. It wasn’t too big and it wasn’t too small!

It is such a friendly personal place. He has made so many personal connections. Everyone has gone out of their way. He has gotten jobs, research positions, internship, and got a job offer in August in the beginning of his senior year. Employers love Lehigh graduates.

I really like how creative they are with their programs. They make it so easy to combine interests to design your own education. My son has an engineering major and two minors.

He wasn’t planning to join a fraternity. But tagged along when a friend was rushing. He chose to join and it has worked out really well for him. He has been able to be on the Dean’s List even while being in a fraternity. I think employers like seeing a kid can manage their time and be disciplined enough to be in a fraternity and still get good grades. And so many engineering jobs require you to work in teams. Involvement in a Greek organization demonstrates to employers you have an ability and willingness to get along with lots of different kinds of people.

The Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry is really a fun event. It really creates this bond of school pride and excitement. I have never seen anything like it. Go to Youtube and watch Lehigh videos. Our relatives who live in the area say Lehigh students are known for how passionately they LOVE their school. My son got a job on the east coast so he can go back to the football games next year after he graduates!!!

I think of Lehigh students as super passionate, highly motivated kids. We are really happy to have our son in a place where everyone ENJOYS working hard!

Sorry for the rant. But, I could never say enough good about the school. I personally went to a large university. I didn’t even bother to go to my graduation. I feel more of a connection to Lehigh than where I graduated.

VISIT!

I visited because I was nearby for a golf tournament, and it was probably the best decision I’ve made (besides applying ED to Lehigh).

When I visited campus, I got the “feeling” that people talk about. I had the opportunity to sit in on a class, stay overnight, speak with current students and a professor… I basically lived the life of a student for a day. I felt that it was a school that I could see myself fitting into. Finding the right college is such a personal thing that it’s hard to take what people say about a school too seriously. You have to make sure you can see yourself fitting in and liking the environment of the campus.

We’re known for our engineering school, but we have a highly ranked business school (#38 in the country, I believe) and great arts and sciences school. Greek life is great if you want it, but you don’t have to do it to have fun!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away!
