Same boat for Engineering. I emailed them as well. Cant believe they wouldn’t have enough sessions for accepted students to do a full visit.
Advice and suggestion please: choosing between Lehigh vs Brandeis in Economics/Business major?
My son is attending a Monday session because we cannot make it for the full-day event on April 9. I wish that Lehigh could offer more than one full-day admitted student event to accommodate more students.
We are a little disappointed as well, but I think that a weekday visit may not be a bad idea after all, because we can experience what a normal day feels like there. Monday/Friday sessions offer 4 hours of the program, so I am hoping that we can learn enough and still spend some time simply observing students on the campus.
Where did you see 4 hour session? I only see 2 hour info session and tours on the calendar. I don’t see anything coming up on campus for engineering. Maybe I’m not looking in right place.
<UPDATED: I was able to find it on the website. Thanks for mentioning it.
I didn’t get a response but just checked again (7pm eastern) and there is space in A&S and Engineering for afternoon sessions.
My son was admitted with the trustee’s scholarship, but even with the scholarship, looks like Lehigh is way over what the NPC said and $12000 more than every other school. He is super sad because he really likes Lehigh. He will reach out to the FA since we thought they met demonstrated. Maybe something was filled out incorrectly.
My kid (1560 SAT, 4.0 UW) was awarded nice merit aid at 10 other schools. Lehigh is the only school to not award merit aid. It’s also the only school to award a grant, which seems odd.
My son didn’t receive merit from several schools but did from comparable schools to Lehigh (CWRU, NEU, Univ of MD). Merit offers from those schools was much higher than Lehigh- is there any value in asking if Lehigh would reconsider if it’s your child’s first choice? We’re waiting on a couple more schools and Lehigh may not shake out to be top 3 in the absence of more merit.
It appears Lehigh just does not give much merit. S22 admitted to Eckard Scholars and they just sent him an offer to fly him up for a visit, but his merit offer was only about $15,000.
Same, sigh.
Does Lehigh send stuff to admitted students?
I’m in the same situation, much more merit from similar caliber schools (such as CWRU). I did email my admissions officer to try to appeal and he did say merit decisions were final so unfortunately I had to decline my acceptance. Lehigh was my top school but they’re being stingy this year I guess.
We did ask them to reconsider merit aid as my son received nothing (but had strong offers from other schools and had what we thought was a strong application). He wrote them a nice letter, explaining it was his first choice, how he thought he could make an impact at the school, why it was so important to him, and sharing the offers he’d received from other comparable schools. This is the response he received (below). It’s polite, but basically says nope, you get nothing.
Response:
Congratulations on your acceptance for the Class of 2026! Thank you for your email. All merit recipients have been notified of their award, and every student was considered. Our merit-based scholarships are competitive and highly selective, and similar to how we review applications, they are also based on your application holistically, not just academics. We make sure we are as transparent about merit-based scholarships because in the past less than 20% of the incoming first year classes received a merit-based scholarship from us.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an appeals process for merit aid. You do have some great offers from other schools. We wish you well in making your final decision.
My husband checked it again yesterday and got a spot.
We also got a grant. The only other school that offered one was Bucknell. He got scholarships or nothing at the others.
Is there a thread for the waitlisted students?
Don’t lose hope. My son got off the waitlist last year and is now attending Lehigh. Send a letter of enthusiasm to his admissions counselor/advisor. That’s what he did. Good luck!
From your lips to god’s ears. Have twins on waitlist. Hoping for the best!!! Lehigh is a great place- daughter graduating in a month!
Do you remember how long it took to hear that he was accepted from waitlist? Thanks
He sent the letter on April 5th and received acceptance on April 13th. Good luck!
