Lehigh University ED 1 vs ED 2

The ED 1 deadline for Lehigh is the 15th. I'm really not sure if my teacher recommendations will be finished then, since I asked a little late. Lehigh has ED2 which runs until Jan. 1st.
Would it be worth it to take an extra week to revise my essay and give my teachers a little extra time, and then just apply ED2? I'm not really sure if Lehigh has a rolling process, I'd still really like to get my decision before the end of the year!

If anyone has any thoughts, I would appreciate them. Also, if you want some of my stats, here is my "chances" thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/593708-chance-kid-please.html

I would suggest ED2. Take the time to revise your essays and make sure your application is perfect. Your SATs are on the low end for Lehigh’s accepted range, so I am guessing it is your low reach school?. ED2 is still binding.

Interesting dilemma…how about calling your admissions rep, letting them know you are definitely applying ED and ask them your question…You are definitely in based on GPA and class rank, but as someone has said, your SAT"s are a little low…unless, though, you are retaking, why wait until ED2? If it’s just the recs, maybe admissions will tell you to submit for ED1 and get the recs in ASAP.

Thanks for the info. I talked to my teacher and he said his rec should be done in less than 2 weeks. So that’s not bad. I think I’ll talk to admissions at Lehigh and get some more details.

Wondering if anyone else has any suggestions. Specifically on the difference between meeting the ED1 deadline or applying ED2 one week after the ED1 deadline.

No email reply from Lehigh yet… ugh.

Pick up the telephone and call. Don’t wait for the email response.

Got a reply from the northeast PA advisor:

“Thanks for your recent message, and it won’t pose any problems or concerns if your recommendations arrive a few days after the November 15th ED deadline. In fact, we find that most ED applications become complete within two weeks of the deadline.”

So that’s good news. Still want it all in ASAP though.
