When does RD typically hear back from Lehigh?
My S had an interview at Lehigh this fall and asked about transferring between colleges within the university. He was told that once you have 23 credits (including AP credits), you can transfer between colleges. If you want to transfer prior to having 23 credits, you need to get permission, probably from one of the deans.
Lehigh is currently my #1 school. I got accepted at UMD and others but still waiting to hear back from Lehigh. Anyone know when RD will hear back?
angela98 you should follow Lehigh admissions blog, Tumblr and Twitter – as well as these Lehigh threads – for that info. Time to do your homework!
From the website, can anyone give an exact date of when RD decisions are released? I am a pretty strong applicant, but I know that other smart girls have also applied to Lehigh from my school. I have taken 5 AP’s (all A’s and one B) and am in the top 10 percent with a 4.2 weighted GPA and 1990 SAT score (Ik it is lower). I am the president of a volunteer and the spanish club, and have gone on service trips to Guatemala, Trinidad, New Mexico, and New Orleans. I am a cashier at Chick-fil-A and plan on studying English at Lehigh. I have visited the school 3 times, interviewed, and attended a tour and information session. Does it seem like I have a chance? I know the kids at my school have applied for pre-med, engineering so I am hoping i have a chance to get in for English. What do you think?
Also, I have demonstrated interest through emailing with my regional counselor many times.
Lana22,
You have a fantastic record! I can not imagine you not being accepted. I know the wait is miserable. But, hang in there!
Hi! I am a junior soon-to-be-senior in high school interested in Lehigh. I am undecided as to what I really want to do, but I am considering bioengineering and maybe something else. I know OP said he/she is in the IDEAS program. Could someone explain more about their experience in that program? Also more about the honors program in general. Thanks!
Crazy question, but what the heck. I’m hosting a graduation party (from another school) for my son. I will be serving foods famous for that school’s area, and for the city where he will be moving. We’re also celebrating my nephew graduating high school, and he will be heading to Lehigh. Is there a certain “famous” food dish at Lehigh? Anything special that I can serve? Also, other than brown balloons, any easily obtained decorations?
Do we get to pick the times we want our classes?
Chardo,
My son went to Lehigh and here is my guess to what is a “famous” dish - There is this sandwich shop the Goosey Gander that is right off campus and the students love the place. They even sell T-shirts with their name on them. The restaurant is known for sponsoring all sorts of Lehigh’s groups trying to raise money for very worthy causes! You could use some of their artwork and try to recreate some of their sandwiches. But, like I said I am just a mom so I might be completely off base here. But, our son talked about the place many times and took us there.
@kikkydee, thanks for the tip about where to eat! We are going to visit Lehigh next month with my son. It looks like it might be a wonderful fit for him. He’s interested in Mechanical Engineering.
Does anyone have insight about what types of questions they ask during the admissions interview? Thanks!
We took our son his junior year in high school to visit Lehigh. He had an interview. Our son is a pretty quiet guy. And he was not interested in any advice from us on what to say! After our son was admitted I became friends with his admissions officer. Those admissions officers are really pretty awesome people. The most best thing to remember is they really understand 17 year olds. So the kids can just be themselves. I think their goal is to make the students feel comfortable and answer any questions the student might have. These are pretty “soft” interviews. I do not think their are any set questions. They sort of take their cues from the student.
Oh, an engineer? Lehigh is such an awesome school for an engineering student. During the admissions process I really didn’t understand how beneficial it is to go to a school with so many engineers. First of all, those admissions officers completely get those future engineers. We went every year to Parent’s Weekend and would take a bunch of his friends to dinner. I think only one of his best buddies wasn’t an engineer. Even the girls who came out with us were engineers. They had this whole attitude (and sense of humor) about being an engineer. They are so into how hard the classes are and how much homework they have to do. Since they are all working hard it just becomes normal.
- Dress nicely.
- Turn off your phone!
- Sit up straight.
- Be attentive and make eye contact.
- No gum or candy. No drinks other than a water.
- Introduce yourself and greet the interviewer properly. Shake hands and make eye contact.
- Know the interviewers name before you get there if possible. If not, write it down so you do not forget.
- Have a notebook and something to write to take a few notes.
- Be friendly and yourself. Polite, but not formal.
- Be prepared to answer basic questions about "Why Lehigh?"
- Have a few questions prepared for him/her. Have the questions written down so you do not forget.
Ok I understand we get our class schedules at orientation, so does that mean we dont get to pick our class times? Someone please respond thanks…
Great advice @kikkydee & @Much2learn! Thank you so much.
@darkhound173 No, you don’t get to pick your class times as an incoming new freshman
My son is a junior this year majoring in computer science engineering. As my husband was also a Lehigh graduate of 1980, Lehigh was our only school we wanted so we did early decision. We found out over Christmas break via an email that he was accepted… He joined a frat and is thoroughly enjoying Greek life at Lehigh…and is maintaining a 3.5… We went to at least 4 open houses as interest in the school plays a big part in acceptance…
We know its a school known for parties but the kids that are there to learn and succeed can do both and have a great 4 years there!
My son is interested in double major engineering and music, anyone have any info/experience with that?
IDEAS program…check it out.
