I am a prospective student looking to apply to Lehigh with the RD pool of applicants. I am interested in interviewing at Lehigh, and I understand that these interviews are evaluative and supplement the application.
How does the interview go? Do they ask you questions, or do you have to start the conversation? What kinds of questions do they ask (if they ask questions)? This might sound like a silly question, but the interview process seems like more of an opportunity to ask questions or talk about yourself in a way unlike some other colleges, and I just want to clarify this.
My S did his two yrs ago. He would say it was very conversational. They get you to go much deeper in your application to get a feel for you. They also ask the basic “What are your best and worst attributes?” “Give me an example of overcoming something…” “Why Lehigh…”. But all within the context of a conversation.
My daughter interviewed last cycle. The interviewer asked her specifics about her intended major. Kind of dug into if she really understood what it entailed. She really enjoyed talking to him but he mostly asked her questions and left only about 5 minutes for her to ask anything.
I did mine about a month ago when an admissions rep came to my city. It was by far my favorite/ most easygoing interview that I have done so far. The rep was very friendly and it really just felt like a conversation. None of the questions were tough, they were mostly just asking about my school, my activities, my intended career path, what drew me to lehigh, etc. The only one that actually made me think was “if you could eat dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?” That’s actually a pretty common interview question but it still caught be by surprise. It probably varies a lot based on what rep you are talking to but mine went well for sure. She also answered a lot of my questions, which was nice because I hadn’t had the chance to visit campus yet.
I had my interview this past week. I was interviewed by a senior who worked in the office of admissions. It was very conversational, and she really dug into what I understood about my intended major and what I liked about Lehigh specifically. She also asked specific questions about what I was involved in in school and what I looked for in a college. Goodluck to everyone!
i went to campus and interviewed w a student. whos your role model, idol, why lehigh, what are two characteristics about yourself, whats a time you had to work together, etc are some i remember. super casual and conversational! you got this!
