Which of these schools would be the best if i plan to go into consulting or investment banking with a major in economics?
Are you a rising senior? All three of them with strong college grades would get you into a strong MBA program.
If you expect to make the leap into consulting/investment banking with no experience then you better have excellent college grades and compelling reason to hire you with just an econ degree.
With respect to Lehigh, which is rated in a different category, Bates’ and Bowdoin’s economics departments have been compared based on faculty publishing.
The Top Five Plus
- Williams
- Wellesley
- Middlebury
- Wesleyan
- Hamilton
- Bates
- Bowdoin
As an opinion, I’d say all the schools in the top 20 probably have very good to excellent economics departments, as I suspect would Lehigh.

I don’t have the link, but I know it’s out there. LikedIn did a ranking of the schools that get the highest percentage of people into particular fields. I know they did one for Investment Banking. I think @arcadia may have the link.
