Lehigh vs. Honors College at University of Maryland - College Park

I'm really unsure where I should go, but I narrowed my choices down to lehigh and maryland honors. I'm out of state for maryland and live about an hour from lehigh. I always wanted a big school with spirit, sports and things like that, but people say that lehigh might be a great fit for me since it has all of that at a lower scale level. Also, people say that lehigh will be able to give me more attention than at maryland even though I'm in its honors college. I'm not worried about attention because I'm driven and don't need someone to hold my hand through college. I'm entering as a mathematics major but I might switch to chemistry. I'm definitely taking the sciences necessary to apply to med school. Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated! I really want to make a decision soon, but I keep overthinking everything.

26,000 undergraduates (Maryland) versus 4,800 undergraduates

an 18:1 student/teacher ratio versus a 9:1 ratio

USNWR ranking of 53 for Maryland versus 35 ranking

SAT scores are about the same, as are freshman retention and graduation rates

Maryland has about 94 Math majors per class, Lehigh has about 15

so you really have to decide whether you want to go to a college that has double the student/teacher ratio, 5x the number of overall students and 6x the number of Math Majors.

It is healthier to go to a college that is further than one hour away, however…

is there a financial consideration??

i received a $5,000 merit scholarship to maryland and a decent financial aid package (using the grants and not the loans) for lehigh that will bring it down to about costing the same as maryland so money really isnt affecting my decision

this might help further:

Interesting that the Maryland/Lehigh decision is common out there…
