Hey everyone, so I didn't get into any ivies, either got rejected or waitlisted but I've accepted that and I'm choosing between these 3 schools.

So far Lehigh looks the best, I believe I'm going there cheaper than rutgers, which should be enough incentive. Lehigh may not be an ivy but its a top school with many different programs.

Lafayette has a very nice small campus and I believe I like its environment the best.

Rutgers would be the easy choice because I live in New Jersey and many of my friends are going there. However, I probably should make a new start.

Any comments?

What is your intented area of study?

I'd personally choose Rutgers. It's inexpensive, but also well-rounded (good in many fields).

Lehigh sounds like a good deal, but the thing is: it's only really known at all in certain areas of study (business and engineering)...so, if you change your mind (which almost everyone does) and want to pursue something different, your degree won't be worth very much.

Rutgers seems to have the definite edge in terms of a well-rounded education.

Plus, its larger size will allow for a better variety of social experiences (the other two are very frat-oriented, which some people like, but it can get monotonous).

Disagree with the above post. Lehigh is a medium size national research university...and as such, has a good mix of programs. If you can actually go to Lehigh for less money than Rutgers, it would be very hard to turn down...unless your specific area of study is something Lehigh doesn't offer or Rutgers is particularly strong in. Hence my original question.

Agree^^. Lehigh may be best known for engineering and business but arts and sciences are respectable too. I had many Lehigh classmates who went on to the best law and A&S grad schools.

Rutgers is a very different animal from Lehigh/Lafayette. LU has a feel to it that's, dare I say, ivy-like...lots of kids from successful families, beautiful campus, giant oaks if that's what you're looking for. Rutgers is far more diverse and much more urban (and probably red-tape-ish). Lehigh and Lafayette are more similar than different, size being an obvious difference.

If Lehigh's cheaper than Rutgers, I wouldn't hesitate to choose it. Seems a lot pick Rutgers for the price...great school but last choice of smart NJ kids. I believe you'd find an overall (with some exceptions) happier and more satisfied student body at LU (or Lafayette) than Rutgers.
