Lehigh vs Pitt

Stuck between Lehigh and Pitt. Which is better known and has a better reputation? Do people across the US know about both schools? Do not want to go to a college that future employer has no recognition of.

What would be your major?

Lehigh ranks higher on US News. Pitt might be more well known due to sports and the fact that it is named after a big city. There are many colleges that future employers will not have heard of and in most cases it won’t matter.

I would go pre-med and major psychology or neuroscience @kikkydee

I love Lehigh.

But, I would not be able to say Pitt or Lehigh would be a better choice. They are completely different experiences. My son thought he would benefit more from a small school experience. I don’t think at a large school it would have been as easy for him to get involved in so many activities. He had classes he struggled with and he would go meet with the teaching assistant or the professor a couple of times a week. He was an engineering student and he knew he to understand the material not just get a good grade. If you are interested in medical school the same applies to you. You will need to develop a very good working knowledge of basic science. Go to the school you think can flourish in as a student.

Also, medical school is so competitive these days. It really benefits an applicant to have research experience. In my opinion a smaller school like Lehigh would give you more access to research positions. Try to stay in the summer during your sophomore and junior summers and do research.

Both schools have good reputations and are well respected. The deciding factor will be the resume you are able to build for yourself. Please consider the most challenging major you can to prepare yourself for medical school.

Best of luck to you!
