Hi everyone so I am SUPER conflicted at the moment.
I am committed to Pitt as of now because I was waitlisted from both Lehigh and Wake Forest. I am a biology/pre-med major.
I love all three schools and if lehigh or wake forest were to call me to take me off the list, I’m not sure what I would do.
I like Pitt because of all the pre-med opportunities being in such a large city (shadowing opportunities, clinical experiences). Their med school is about 6th in the nation too!
I love Lehigh though because it gives me the full college experience unlike Pitt. I get the school spirit, beautiful green campus with a city nearby, and community-like atmosphere. Lehigh is closer to home as well which is a nice but I don’t mind being far either.
I loved Wake Forest when I visited too. I also get the full college experience and the area is just absolutely amazing because its a change of pace from where I live in Jersey. I would 100% pick Wake Forest but the only thing holding me back is the grade deflation. For a student who is thinking of applying to med school a lower GPA would probably affect my chances of getting into med school. I think that I’m a smart and hardworking student but I am worried that I won’t do well at Wake Forest. If anyone has any insight about Work Forest please let me know.
Thank you and please just tell me your opinions!
I would not think about it until you see if you actually do get a spot off of the waitlist, know what is affordable etc. Right now you are just spinning your wheels.
Just warning you that Lehigh is nowhere near a city. Bethlehem has a sizeable population but is a large town at best. If the city environment for interning and entertainment is really important to you then Pitt is your best choice.
Last year, 1,847 students accepted a spot on the wait list at Lehigh; 0 were offered admission. Wake Forest did not release their statistics. There is an extremely slim chance that you will have any decision to make; it’s time to stop thinking about what you can get from Lehigh and Wake Forest because they’re probably not options.

Hi @usualhopeful and @happy1 thank you for trying to be helpful. Of course, I still know that a wait list is not an acceptance. However, I just want to think about the decision in the case that I do get accepted.
You seem to be devoting a lot of energy to thinking about a situation that is unlikely to come up. You say that “[you] would 100% pick Wake Forest, but the only thing that is holding [you] back is the grade deflation.” But colleges use waitlists as soft rejections, so the admissions decision is the thing that’s actually holding you back.
Forget about Lehigh and Wake Forest. Stop thinking about them. Instead spend your time doing your Pitt housing app, applying for any LLCs you may be interested in, scheduling Pittstart, etc. Its time to move on.
