I think they have only offered admission for the spring term. And no I have not heard back…any updates on portal?

Now S’ status says…

“Thank you again for your continued interest in Lehigh University! As of today, May 1, 2013, our class numbers continue to change on a moment to moment basis. As a result, we still have not yet made a final decision regarding the use of our Wait List. We will continue monitoring our numbers each day, and will make a final decision on Monday, May 6th.”

Frankly, S is now longer interested. That said, it surprises me that a private (and expensive) institution would be having this type of internal processing difficulty. It’s something one would expect from big underfunded public U.

I’m so sorry about your frustration. I know many students at other schools who have accepted more than one college and since today is the absolute deadline, my guess is they will be figuring out actual accepts over the next few days. I think many colleges are going through similar issues.

^^^I understand that it’s a management challenge. However, kids wait listed in many of our UC’s and CSU’s (with the exception of one particularly problematic child in that particular family) seem to be much better organized. If you can’t get it together them simply say…May 15th…that way if an organization can get it figured out earlier…it’s just a nice surprise.

S accepted a position on another WL…it’s a very simple, clear and understandable policy…we will call you around May 8th or 9th to let you know if you if you’ve been admitted. Simple, clear… doable.

Lehigh’s administration is arrogant and disorganized…Would you really want to spend $220k for this?

Yes because contrary to what you seem to think, you are not paying for a school’s administration but rather their academia, their network, their athletics (perhaps), but most of all the potential ROI. It’s really unfortunate that you are all having such a bad experience but I just don’t see how the value of a school is in anyway correlated with the level of organization that the admissions department has.

Has anyone other than the January admits been moved off the wait list? I realize its difficult not to be better when we want to know yesterday, but I don’t envy the admissions office. If you want to see some admissions craziness check out the admissions problems blog

Son’s status still says "“Thank you again for your continued interest in Lehigh University! As of today, May 1, 2013, our class numbers continue to change on a moment to moment basis. As a result, we still have not yet made a final decision regarding the use of our Wait List. We will continue monitoring our numbers each day, and will make a final decision on Monday, May 6th.”

Now, I know the east coast is in a different time zone than the west coast but I was unaware that we crossed the international date line somewhere over the mid west

That other institution where he is wait listed called right at the time they said they would…no resolution because he was moved to another w/l…but at least they kept their original time frame.

Their original time frame to move him to another list? Maybe they are facing the same situation, just different way of handling it?

^^ at this point it is really just an educational process to watch and in which to participate. From my experience, which consists of D in 2010 and S in 2013, our instate publics’ with all their budget issues and problems have, at least this part, of the system down to a dignified process. They will also speak very very candidly with you on the phone and answer some pretty pointed questions…and sometimes the answer is ‘we just don’t know at this point’.

S appealed a rejection to one of these publics. Within their stated 15 day response time we had a letter and a portal update (moved to w/l).

As for the other institution…they gave one solid date at which time an update would be given. And,as evidence by a thread on CC they adhered to this date. The ‘decision’ they gave was surprising…but at least it was followed with information on a subsequent date. Given their previous adherence to their schedule, one is inclined to believe in the next announced schedule.

It is a curious rabbit hole we enter when pursuing college admissions.

Did your son accept a position at a school? Honestly, these schools know commitment day and you’d think they would let people know definitively

Yes, he did and at this point I’m the one riding out the process if for no other reason than to provide a bit of insight to those coming up behind him.

I personally have an issue with service/product providers who charge an exorbitant fee and don’t have customer service once a ‘sale’ has been made.

Still no definitive reply. Offered spring admit about 10 days ago, but notified them that is not possible for me. Still hoping to hear something soon. They said May 6th, but today is May 7th and I’m just curious if anyone has moved off the w/l for fall admit?
Let’s hope we hear asap.

Any thoughts about Drexel University vs Lehigh University, considering Drexel is a fall admit with significant merit scholarship, vs a spring admit for Lehigh, with almost no $$. S going into civil engineering. Is Lehigh worth the extra money?

Just got a call from Lehigh, accepted off the wait list for fall admission! They said only a few got off so I wish anyone else that was waiting to hear good luck!

can you please tell me if you were offered spring admit before getting this phone call?
Thanks.

Nope, they hadn’t said anything to me about any admittance until yesterday!

I still haven’t received results about me getting off the wait list or not
should I call/email them?

Hi, one of my classmates got into Lehigh off the waitlist and accepted the offer. The person was very active while on the waitlist. contact the admin. department

JUST GOT INTO LEHIGH!!!

they phoned me today and told me I was accepted.
already deposited at Lafayette (oops), so will go back to visit both this weekend. Leaning towards Lehigh’s size, prestige, Greek Life and finance major though.

Was not offered Spring Admit before, but was incredibly active on the WL, sending admissions rep and director a letter of interest and a few extra teacher recs, so I believe if you dont show interest or are not full pay (I am), you will not be offered admission. If you don’t get a call from Lehigh by the end of the week, youre probably s*** out of luck because I think theyre only giving out a handful of spots

Good luck all!
Go Mountain Hawks!!
