<p>Regarding your question, if you are going with an “off form” recommendation, I would think that it should be at least a little longer than that (assuming 500 words is roughly one page long). As I noted in my response to your other posting on the same topic, the recommender should be able to add some insight into your personality/candidacy that is not covered in other parts of your application. Can he/she do that in 120 words? Maybe/maybe not?</p>
