<p>I'm curious if people who are involved in these MT programs can say how long classes usually are, especially dance classes. This summer at Carnegie Mellon Pre-College, we had very long classes (min hour and a half, max hour and 50 minutes) and I was wondering/hoping if that's consistent with the real programs. I know one school I visited had 50 minute dance classes, which seemed short to have. </p>

<p>as a general rule, the length of college courses has to do with how many times it is a week. all of my dance classes, or acting classes have been twice a week, and about an hour and 45 minutes. i suppose that could vary per school- but i'd say it's probably pretty universal.
lol, it's always the way of a college/university to put us through hours of difficult dance classes per week, and only give us one credit.</p>

<p>Acting class is 3 times a week for 2 hours and 20 minutes.</p>
<p>Other core classes (movement, dance, voice, speech, etc.) are twice a week for 1 hour and 20 minutes.</p>
<p>Judging from my daughter's schedule, the majority of UM MT classes run from an hour and a half (dance classes) to 2 hours (Performance, Acting, etc) Some special lab classes can run longer and an occasional seminar might be an hour long.</p>

<p>At Ithaca, the classes vary. Freshman Voice and Movement and Scene Study are each an hour and fifty minutes long. Scene Study's twice a week and V&M is three times a week. Ballet and Jazz are also an hour and fifty minutes long, and they each meet twice a week. Now that I look at that, they don't really vary that much, haha. I think they start to vary a little more later on, like when V&M splits into Voice and Speech and Movement, two separate classes sophomore year.</p>
<p>At UArts, Music Skills for Musical Theater are twice a week for 1hour 20 minutes, with lab being 50 minutes, twice a week. Acting studie is twice a week for 3 hours each. Voice for musical theater (not private lessons), are twice a week for 1 hour 20 minutes each. Each dance class is once per week for 1 hour 20 minutes.</p>
