Length of responses

Quick question:

How long were your essays and short responses (most meaningful activity and the personal statement)? Just wondering how large I can make my responses.

Bump...would really appreciate some assistance with this.

Within the word limit, barely.

They obviously won't pull out the word counter to judge exactly how long your essay is, but as a rule, the shorter, the better. Nobody's impressed by the fact that you can string 750 words together coherently, but they WILL be impressed if you compact that essay into 250 words.

It probably depends. My personal statement was about 750 words and my short answer was close to 300, but that was after cutting both down significantly. Use your own discretion; you should try to stay within the limits they give you - that's why they're there - but if you have to exceed them, I wouldn't make the personal statement anymore than two pages (double-spaced) or the short answer much more than one half or three-quarters of a page. But, of course, it all depends on what you have to say.

Hmm thats fine then. My short answer is 212 words and my personal statement should be ~500-600 words.

Thanks for the responses.
