I know that doctors have to go through a LONG period of med school and all but I'm confused about the exact length. If I want to become a pediatrician how many years of med school would i have to go through?

Four years med school, three years pediatric residency. Add additional for subspecialty training.

pediatric fellowships (where you subspecialize - ie peds cardiology/pulmonology/etc) are 3 years.

The break down is this:

College: 4 or 5 years
Med school: 4 years
Residency and fellowship: 3-7 years

So you can be done post HS in as little as 11 or as many as 16, but that assumes that you get accepted to med school on your first try (which doesn't always happen.)
