Length of Waitlist at Deerfield

Has anyone gotten any information on the length of the Waitlist for next year's 9th grade?

I tried with admission office but with no luck.

Hopefully they will take some of us California students!

i just withdrew from DA’s waitlist =) hopefully all of your chances have increased!

Unfortunately, you need to remember that if School A has 100 openings, they might admit 150 students, as some of those students will choose to go to School B. So, it could be a while before a school goes to its wait list, if at all.

Good luck!

Has anyone revisited Deerfield yet? Did they say how many were accepted?

The first revisit is tomorrow! I’ll be going :)

They said it was about 14% of 1883 completed apps.

Didn’t Deerfield have an overflow of freshman girls last year? Our tour guide mentioned something about it… Was that due to not enough of them declining the acceptance offer?

That means roughly 1:1 for admitted:waitlist. Is that common practice for boarding school admission?

SFBay - where did you get that from?

In the letter to my D it said “small number of select candidates”.

Yes, their yield was ridiculous, so much higher than they planned. Judging by the amount of new sophomore girls (less than 10) that I saw at the first revisit and the fact that everyone I talked to commented on them not letting in many new sophomore girls, it was one of the most difficult pools this year probably.
I do, however, know of MANY people who applied as sophomore girls who were waitlisted (definitely more than 10 :P), so they might be waiting for revisits to see who commits and then immediately going to waitlist if its that long.
