Length: Supplemental Essay

it says, supplemental essays from 500 to 750 words.

My essay is 790 word long but I don't want to shorten the length as it may change some meanings.

Can I keep the current length? or is Cornell strict about the length?

Thanks

I thought the word limit for all 7 schools and colleges is 500...

Anyway, 790 is overkill. That's approximately the same length as my common app essay. I really think you should try to trim it down a bit in any way possible.

trust me on this cornell does not care at all if you make your essay long

as long as its engaging the cornell admissions people ive talked to all say that noone cares

I'm pretty sure the max is 500 words...

they dont care. i talked to a guy at admissions he explicitly said that they won't be counting words and as long as it's not like 1500 words its good. he even said that if there aren't enough writing opps and we want to write about more important things we can (one girl had 5 important events in her life and wrote an essay about each one! and he liked it). i have no idea how this applies to other universities, but for cornell they do NOT care as long as the words"need" to be there.
