I’m a closeted lesbian applying to both schools. I’m out of state, so it will be difficult to get in but I think I have a decent chance. I love both schools and would be happy going to either. I’m preppy and feminine and fit in with the types of people I usually see at these schools. However, I’m gay and I’m wondering what that experience is like at these schools. I want be out in college and am worried it might be a little difficult in the south. I also don’t want to let my sexuality prevent me from going to a school I love! Others on my list are Vanderbilt and Emory, as well as UF which I am in state for. Thanks!
I don’t have direct experience but my daughter found this article interesting/helpful:
Thanks so much!
Oh yes, I almost forgot, there is also this searchable list: https://www.campusprideindex.org
The schools you mentioned received okay-but-not-great ratings. Remember NC passed the HB2 law. I personally would steer clear if you want to be out.
