Lesbian community?

Many universities have a pretty vibrant gay community, I've found, but fewer have an active lesbian community.

Can anyone give me some insight into the lesbian community (if there is one) at Tulane? I'm fairly certain I'd be comfortable being openly lesbian at Tulane, but will there be a fair amount of other openly gay women to befriend?

Naturally anyone with current first-hand knowledge or experience with this topic should answer, but I just wanted to point out that A) Tulane has an active and well accepted GLBT community and organization; B) New Orleans has a long history of tolerance for all people in those communities; and C) The new police superintendent was specifically cited by the school and community he is leaving for his great work with these groups.
So I think you would be going into a very open, accepting community from what I can tell.

Tulane is really accepting of anyone regardless of sexual orientation. Tons of people were wearing “Gay? Fine by me” shirts on coming out day!!!
I’ve noticed that there are a lot of gay boys on campus, however, I don’t think I’ve met any lesbians. I just think lesbians aren’t as obvious about their sexual orientation (in comparison to gay males). That’s probably why I haven’t been able to spot any. But, just because I haven’t met any doesn’t mean there aren’t a few on campus. (I’m also a freshman, as that probably influences how many people I’ve gotten to know). I’ve met a few Bisexuals on campus as well.
Regardless, Tulane is really friendly toward the LGBT community! Consider joining OMA, the office of multicultural affairs as they are strong supporters of minorities in the community (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation . . etc).
