It really helps if you have some idea of what you might want to major in. Some schools are stronger in English and others in science. Some have majors like engineering and communications that the others don’t have. If you truly have no idea, you are best going with a school that offers the widest variety of majors and/or the school offering you the most money.

I love those sites. They are very helpful.

I want to major in economics. I also want to possibly do a double major with political science as well or maybe a poli sci minor instead. Any ideas about which schools are strong in those areas?

Georgetown, American, Holy Cross

Holy Cross has a strong alumni network in politics-1 Supreme Court Justice, 1 US Senator, 3-4 Congressmen, Chris Mattews of MSNBC, and Obama’s chief speechwriter.

Yes, you should definitely consider Bucknell. It has a gorgeous campus (not really Gothic but beautiful), is one of the top ranked LA schools (top 50 US News, but top ranked even before US News rankings were heard of) and has a lot to offer.

It is a very selective school (ranked “most selective” by almost or every ranking.) It can be preppy if you want it to be. In other words, there are preppy students, and some not. And, from what my D2 says, work hard, play hard is the mantra.

So I would suggest you apply and then visit if accepted.
