2120, Penn

Oh and I also know someone with a 610 on math that got into... was it... MIT? Again, that was obviously aff. action. Their CR was like 680 or something around that.

2140, Penn

Friends: 2000, Harvard. 1870, NYU. 1990, Cornell.

URM? Legacy? Athlete?

interesting friends i must say

my bro got in MIT with a 1450 (couple years ago), dunno if that counts

A 1590/2400 who got inot John's Hopkins. An 870/1600 Penn State admit. Both are URMs. It is in this article:

that is pretty crazy......URMs....

2110-->Cornell..and no URM, legacy, or athlete bull*****!!

I was just talking to someone in my class who got into Boston College EA. He has a 1380/1600 (don't know what he got out of 2400). However, he is a URM and an athlete, so I guess he doesn't count. Not a bad combo to have. I still think he would have gotten in without those 2 things going for him since his SAT is right in BC's range and his GPA is pretty good.

2090--got into Stanford...now attending UMCP on a full scholarship.

some guy at my school got into UPenn EA this year with SATs in the region of 1600 ( he was stupidly out clubbing till 4 am the night before he took them...!) but got in because his mother is very good friends with someone in admissions (pretty high up i presume) and his father is an influential figure in Columbia... Its annoyed everyone else at my school becuase he is really not at all special (not great GCSEs or A level predictions), but just knew he was going to get in.

My brother - 2100 Penn

Not sure why this is so surprising ^
College Board lists the bottom of the mid 50% for UPenn as 1340. That means there are plenty of students who were even below that. Same goes for many of the other schools.

In other words, 50% of the admitted class had a 1340 or lower?

25%, not 50%

But that's out of 1600

25% got below a 1340 out of 1600 - I figure the 2100 that got into Penn scored at least a 1400 on the math/reading sections - if you assume 700 on each section - most likely the math/reading are higher - I admit I am making assumptions.
A lot of the schools are still using the 1600 scale and ignoring the writing section - inlcuding UPenn unfortunately for my d who scored her highest on writing.
My point is that it's definitely not surprising that kids get into top schools with a 2300 posted in the title and even not surprising with much lower scores!

1650---> Cornell

really??? woah
