What does anyone know about the lesser known or perhaps less reputable programs like roger williams or philadelphi univ?

I know a little about PhillyU because I am applying there. The program seems great like any other college. The design studio is nice too. PhillyU is a great school because even though its in Philly, its in a nice area (unlike temple) and it is a major design school.

Thanks! Good luck with your application…where do you live? I think we will be applying there as well.

Thanks, good luck to you too :]
I actually live in Philly, haha…
I want to stay in the area but I am applying to out of state schools like syracuse, northeastern, howard…
What colleges are you applying to?

LOL seriously? Yeah, East Falls is really fantastic. Yawn. Our area is fine. Our campus is very nice. Philly U has zero reputation locally, nationally, and internationally. I dont know a single person who has ever attended Philly U. If you tell someone you go/went to Philly U, they’ll look at you like you have three heads. What a joke…

Dionte, it’s too bad you don’t know anyone who’s gone to Philly U. My son’s friend is an arch major there and my daughter worked with a practicing architect who went to Philly U. Neither of them has 3 heads. Maybe it was the comment about Temple that set you off???

Wow, that was awful reading comprehension, but Philly U is still a joke.

Hey hey I didnt mean to offend anyone.
First off, I have nothing against Temple U, matter of fact, I am applying there too.
Philly U is in a beautiful area, the reason why I said unlike temple was because temple is on broad street right in the middle of North Philly which is a HORRIBLE neighborhood! But besides that, Temple is a great college.

& I understand what you mean about how Philly U isnt known. Its really not known because it just got renamed…I think that name was Philly Textile college or something like that. When I went to go visit the college they admitted that no one knows the new name of the school, but if you tell them the old name, they would know…

Yes, but North Philly being ‘horrible’ doesn’t mean we are. We have a very nice campus, and we’re undergoing $1.2 billion in campus renovations over the next 10 years. It’s nice as it is, but it’s going to rival any city school in the country in 2020.

OK OK did i state that you were horrible? I said that the AREA AROUND NORTH PHILLY IS.

Well anyways since you really love temple u, tell me about their architecture program & how it is known…because apparently Philly U isnt good enough …

we are seriously looking at Roger Williams in RI, UMass, SUny Buffalo

Those are good choices. You should check what degree they give. Buffalo isn’t a professional degree for undergrad. They only give an MArch.

Diontechristmas! There you are! I haven’t seen your posts in ages! Nice to see things haven’t changed.

Adding fuel to the fire…andiericky, check out Drexel’s program.

My son started at Roger Williams last week. so far he loves it. We looked at many of the same schools. my write up is here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1064563729-post8.html

email me and I will give you his address to ask directly

Is your son in the architecture program? We were there yesterday for Accepted Students day?

Yes, he is in the architecture program. He has found the workload in the studio to be difficult. We heard this from a lot of architecture programs, but it is different when you experience it.

Groton, Glad to hear you son is doing well! We are going to start viewing colleges this April during spring break. I may email you in the future to get more info on how your son’s first year was.
